"The villain I appear to be" lyrics
The song starts like this :
"Sometimes when I
Wanna run away and hide
When there's no one on my side
And all my pride HAD disappeared"
I don't understand why we are saying "all my pride HAD disappeared" and not "all my pride HAS disappeared".
I searched how to use those two tenses, but I still don't understand :/

Aha!
In French, the difference between ‘has disappeared’ and ‘had disappeared’ is ‘il a disparu’ and ‘il avait disparu’.
In a song, they can use what we call poetic licence. I think in French you have the same thing: licence poétique, so they can write what they like. You still understand the meaning.
Oooh, nice song. I’ve just found it. Merci.
I would say, as somebody who loves learning languages and loves music, that listening to music really helps me learn how the language is used and when I start to recognise words in songs, it makes me happy. But do not try to learn the correct grammar of a language from song lyrics or poetry. Just enjoy the singing and that you understand enough to know the grammar is not correct. Bravo! 😉

A:
“He looks like a billain in movies” that’s good.
“but he’s actually a very nice and polite man.” Here, well... yes you can say that but I would put it like this:
“but he’s actually nice and polite.” I removed the word “man” because saying “he’s” already refers to the guy.
