I think the word you’re looking for is “komórka”. Since “komórek” is plural for example “mam pięć komórek” which mean I have five phones.

But to answer your question komórka is not often used. We use it more for old phones or like what do you call it again.. stationary phones? you know.
And “telefon” is just a phone, that most people use now.

"Komórka" is a short way of saying "telefon komórkowy" which means "mobile phone", but not many people use this word anymore (except for some old people, I guess). Everyone just calls it "telefon", whether it's mobile or stationary.

In polish "komórka" has many meanings e.g.:
1. Cell - miscrocopical living things (you learnt about it at school on biology)
2. Cell phone or probably you use word Mobile phone :)
3. Cupboard - for instance My grandma keeps brooms in a cupboard."Moja babcia trzyma miotły w komórce" But this meaning is really old fashioned and actually used by older people :)

"Telefon" means phone of course :) It can be also landline, but nowadays it was superseded by mobile. So yeah most people when they want to talk about mobile phone use word "telefon"

For instance:
Gdzie jest mój telefon. Czy ktoś go widział. - Where is my phone? Has anyone seen it?
Mogę zadzwonić z twojego telefonu? - Can I call from your phone?
Kupiłem sobie nowy wypasiony telefon - I got myself a new hip phone.

@facepalmer17 most of the answers are almost right ;) so let me summarize and clarify whatever I had found imprecise. “Komórek” is like @juliiamyg mentioned plural of “komórka” BUT in dative conjugation (that is, nominative would be “komórki”). However tricky part in Polish is also that nominative of plural form of this noun is same as dative for singular:) N, komórka D komórki and plural N, komórki D komórek one, trying to create word by himself derived from stem of word could wrongly guess that it’s gender is masculine like noun phone (telefon) and then we would create a word komórek with nominative:) if that is what happend - then nice try, but that would be incorrect :) Moving on. It’s quite true that nowadays when smartphones are quite prevalent you would use more often “telefon”, which has its reasons. Before 1990 when mobile phones were not so popular in Poland “komórka” (informal) or “telefon komórkowy” were popular to distinguish from landline as it was mentioned above, which was called “telefon stacjonarny” (or “numer stacjonarny”). It’s also nice of @andrzejpyziak17 to mention other meanings, though i would just add that i think instead to keeping broom in cupboard, he meant closet, or simply put small stash ;) this meaning is being less used, true, but then even in official translations of Harry Potter books it was used, that character lived in the closet under stars (“komórka pod schodami”). I would not agree 100% to statement that it is mostly used by old people...or i’m getting old! :) i find it shorter to sometimes say “zostawiłem komórkę w domu” instead of telefon in above sentence. Telefon is quite generic now, can refer to actual object, physical mobile or stationary phone, as well as to number associated with it “możesz mi dać swój telefon?” though most people would say number (“numer”) in general. Oh, one more small typo in Andrzej’s comment ad. 1 - microscopical living thing if we omit definition of life ;) not things as then again it would be “komórki”, like “komórki rozrodcze” vs “komórka rakowa”.
