Please be careful. くる (and する) are irregular verbs.
たべる and いきる are iru/eru verbs. Their conjugation is different.

@Vus I looked the words up, and it turned out what I call "iru/eru verbs" are what you call "ru-verbs". Anyway, ru-verbs are NOT words that end with る, and u-verbs are NOT words that end with う. I think this website is good. https://www.wasabi-jpn.com/japanese-grammar/jap...
Sorry for the confusion. Japanese people don't learn the Japanese language like non-native speakers do. Most Japanese people don't know what ru-verbs and u-verbs are. (I took a course to become a teacher of Japanese, so I know a little. But the way of teaching I learned seems different from what this page says.)

一段活用動詞 [Ichidan verb] (so called "ru-verbs")
見る (みる) "miru"
食べる (たべる) "taberu"
着る (きる) "kiru"
居る (いる) "iru"
変える (かえる) "kaeru"
五段活用動詞 [Godan verbs] (so called "u-verbs")
話す (はなす) "hanasu"
書く (かく) "kaku"
切る (きる) "kiru"
要る (いる) "iru"
帰る (かえる) "kaeru"
I personally do not like the names "u-verb" and "ru-verb", as they can seem confusing.
However, the reason that "Ichidan verbs" are called "ru-verbs" is because they always do end in "ru" (if they do not end in "ru" they are not "ru-verbs"), they are also called "iru/eru" verbs, because they not just end in "ru" but always in "iru/eru" (if they end in aru/oru/uru they are again, not "ru-verbs"),
so a verb like 分かる (わかる) "wak*aru*" can't be a so called "ru-verb".
The reason "Godan-verbs" are called "u-verbs" is because they end in all kind of "u-sounds" u/ru/mu/ku....and so on", so some "u-verbs" can also end in iru/eru (but there are not many).
The actuall difference is the conjugation!
Example:
* 着る (きる) "ki-ru" - 着ます (きます) *ki*-masu
* 切る (きる) kir-u - 切ります (きります) *kir*i-masu
So:
* Ichidan (ru-)verbs: in the basic form always end in "iru/eru" sounds (conjugation based on the vovel)
* Godan (u-)verbs: end in all kind of "u" sounds (conjugation based on the consonant)
