I don't thinks it's good because everyone should be able to decide who they want to marry by themselves, not with a person who was pointed by someone else. It's your life, yours emotions and your decision. That's my opinion :)

It`s not practiced in our country (but was practiced about 80-100 years ago in villages). I think it`s not good if someone decides about your life, especially about so important and life-changing things. On the other hand, if you choose wrong, it`s only your fault - it has advantages and disadvantages. I wouldn`t like it happening to me yet. Maybe if I will not find any wife in next 10 years I will change my mind :-).

Personally I don't like idea of arranged marriage. Adult should have right to choose the person who will stay by his/her side for the rest of their lifes.
And marriage between kids or between adult and kid should be banned everywhere.

The idea of arrange marriages dosen't suit me. I think all people should have a choice and force somebody to do something isn't ok

I don't like the idea of it. According to me, one should be able to choose who to marry. After all, it's a relationship - it's better to be with somebody with whom you get along well. I also guess that many people wouldn't really care about well-being of their children and the marriage would be more like exchange of money and power (it's not like it wouldn't be possible here). So in the end, children would be hurt by their parents.

@Vedanta123 U nas kiedyś też tak było i ludzie jakoś z tym żyli :) Ogólnie ma to swoje plusy, np. w średniowieczu w taki sposób były zawierane sojusze (Dzięki temu Polska stała się taką potęgą) :D

I knew that were still arranged marriages in India but I didn't know that most people are getting married this way. And it is definitely surprising for me that you get kicked out the society for love marriage. Are young people in India OK with arranged marriages or would they prefer to change this?

It was more often than not that people were pairing themselves but if the family did not like the marriage, they could not inherit. Forcing marriage was rare.

@Vedanta123 wouldn't people be thrown out of society for divorcing too? Maybe if many of them did arranged marriage in order not to get thrown out of society then they don't divorce because they still don't want to get thrown out of society? That's just my theory. What do you think?

@Vedanta123 I think it's not shocking, it's logical - if you cannot decide, whether you want to start the marriage, you also cannot decide about ending it. If the wife is beaten and cannot divorce, because it's not allowed or the family does not allow it... For that I don't think it is an advantage, but if course can be - everything depends on people. On the one hand people can do their best, because they have to live together, so let's do it bearable, on the other hand people can do their worst, because it's ensured, that their wife will not divorce anyway.

@Vedanta123 but it's not the proof and argument that arrange marriages are better than these taken because of love. Arrange marriages are backward.

Maybe sometimes when person have some years and didn't have anyone and want that new person in life. But when you must have your own life in your hands arrange marriage is not good.
