Pytanie o angielski (amerykański)

Czy to brzmi naturalnie? The Financial Times on April 3, 2014 issued an article titled “China Poised to Pass US as World’s Leading Economic Power This Year”, which might sound rather offending.

I have a couple of questions.

Q1) It appears that there are many ways to express the date in writing. If I want to keep a formal tone, which option would be the best to write the date?

Q2) As I said, I wanted this paragraph to sound formal. Then, doesn't the sentence "which might sound rather offending" sound a little colloquial? If you come up with a better version of it, please let me know.

Nienaturalnie

Everything is correct including the date, but "might sounds rather offending" is not the correct way to say it. The word offending is not used this way. I think "surprising" or "which might sound outrageous" would work best. Hope this helps!
