At a restaurant in the U.K., how do you call a waitress or waiter when you want to place an order or bill?
In Japan, we raise up hands or say "excuse me " to them.
Do you think those are rude?

We wait till the waitress or waiter walk past and "say excuse me" and ask for the bill. They usually come over and ask if your ready to order.

So you don't raise your hand to the waitress? Even when they don't notice you?
Is it rude thing?
Is it only in the U.K. or other European countries as well?

No I don't anyway. I don't think it's rude, we just don't do it here. I don't know about other European countries. sorry

@Cream-tea I don't think any of those are rude. Most of the time I say "Excuse me" and i might raise my hand if they do not respond

Saying excuse me across the room would be rude, but saying it as they walk past you or raising your hand slightly would be fine :) often we try to make eye contact with the waiter/waitress first and then say excuse me
