A little time is a perfectly natural thing to say. Maybe a stricter grammar would dictate that it can't describe the size of a time span but people use it like that anyway.
The word 'in' should be removed or changed to 'on' to fit the phrase spent time.
That said, I agree the second statement is likely closest to what you were trying to say. The first sounds like 私だったら多分そんな難しいものをちょっとでも読もうとしなかった or something
And for the love of God fitz, please fix your quintuple post. It's like deja vu reading this thread ^_^

Yes deleting them will be up to fitz, if he cares to.
How did I study? Um... manga. Lots and lots of manga. Also a little bit of light novel and a pinch of eroge. There was also a time way back in school when I discussed grammar with some really nice people at animelyrics.com. That was fun.
Lately I was trying to get back to writing something for lang8, but then my computer died. I really should try to fix it soon. ^^
